Well, we went up to the Space Center today and I wasn't sure about the weather. But it held off raining until we were on our way home! :) It seemed like everything we did was "old hat" today, and we didn't take many pictures--but we had a nice day. CJ went straight to the car--yes, the car, in the Saturn V building. It must be new since last year--Alan Shepherd's classic Corvette is now on display underneath the huge rocket. Also new was the Apollo 14 capsule and some other things from that era--the only disappointing thing was that the capsule is in the room where you used to be able to put your head in a cutout on the wall and make yourself an astronaut. CJ was kind of bummed about that. But he also learned a lot today--he learned that Apollo 13 was "a successful failure"--and exactly what that means. Gee, maybe someday he will appreciate living in the middle of history--but for now, he's just a kid! :) We learned today that they are building a brand new crawler for the new Ares rockets, and we saw them beginning that out by the launch pads.

Well, it's that time of year again, and I took my now-annual Dyan's day out trip to Kennedy Space Center this morning. Snoopy was new this year--see the second picture to find out more details. Snoopy greeted us as we entered the Rocket Garden. I also took another trip to the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and got a picture of the "Forever We Will Remember" memorial on the wall for the 14 Shuttle Astronauts who have lost their lives. The whole museum is pretty inspiring, actually. I really enjoyed myself today...part two of the trip is tomorrow when I take CJ for some more fun. Aaah--I love these free weekends! :)

This is a full sized mock-up of the new Orion crew vehicle--if it ever happens. And believe me, around here, that is REALLY important, since the space program is practically our entire job force here. They're going back to capsules, and they'll launch on a new rocket--Ares. Pretty cool!

On my way home, I stopped in Viera to check the progress of the new building for Calvary Chapel Melbourne's satellite campus there. It's almost done! Services should start in November sometime--and look at the street sign--Fellowship Place--that is too cool! :)
