Well, Eric and Dyan were able to have a "date day" this Friday, and Dyan thought it would be a cool idea to see what all the different Disney hotels looked like--those nice, upscale ones we'll probably never be able to afford! So that's what we did! We sampled every kind of Disney transportation--2 monorails, 2 boats, and a bunch of buses to get to all of our destinations. It was a lot of fun to see the different takes on resort living! Here's a sampling of our day.
It's always fun to see the arch--it's like a whole different world when you get here.
One of Dyan's favorite things at Disney World is the topiaries. They don't seem to have as many as they used to, except at certain times of the year, but they are beautiful. This one of Mickey is at the Contemporary.
The lobby of the Polynesian Resort has many small waterfalls.
The outside view of the Polynesian Resort.
The Yacht and Beach Club, across the water from Boardwalk and Epcot.
Just outside of the Hollywood Studios, Mickey is even in the bushes!
The Swan and Dolphin hotels have really cool fountains!
The Grand Floridian Hotel
Mary Poppins stands outside the Grand Floridian.
The Contemporary Hotel as seen from the monorail.
From the Contemporary, you're so close to the Magic Kingdom, you can practically smell the turkey legs! :)
This is a display inside the Boardwalk Inn--Dyan wanted to take it home!
Here's the lobby of the Boardwalk Inn.
The Lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge--some of the rooms look out onto the savannah and you can see the animals!
We took the monorail to Epcot while making our way back to where we started the day, and I took a shot of Spaceship Earth--again, SO much better without the stupid Mickey hand (yes, I'm a purist) !
We finished our day at Downtown Disney, and I had never noticed these guys before, behind the Christmas Shoppe!
We had a wonderful day, and CJ enjoyed playing after school at a friend's house--hey, he was in the pool--he was the smart one! Even though it's mid-October, it was slated to be 95 degrees with a heat index of 105! Aaahh, fall! :)
