I FINALLY GOT TO SEE THE SHUTTLE AT LIFTOFF!! This has been a dream of mine (Dyan) since--well, forever! There have been 2 shuttle launches since we've lived here, and I've been too far away both times to really enjoy it. God worked it out so well! Eric had a weekend off, which he NEVER has, and so all three of us got to go today and see shuttle Atlantis get off the ground on the 5th try. It was so exciting to be close enough to see the launch pad and watch from the moment of liftoff. After the shuttle was out of sight, we finally heard the rumble. It was totally awesome! We were right at Port Canaveral, so we could look over and see the cruise ships, too. We were probably about 10 miles away or so. I told Eric that I'll have to get even closer next time! :)
